I have started to slow capture my family personal VHS-C tapes.
It is a laborous, analog and time-consuming process.
I have two old VCRs. One to capture normal VHS tapes and the other SVHS.
These VCRs are then connected to my old camcorder which has a firewire connection and is able to disable the audio/video from the VCRs.
The Camcorder is then connected to the my PC.
I press play on the VCR, make sure the camcorder is on and hit capture on the PC.
As it is analog I have to wait an hour until the entire tape is captured.
During the above process I have to be aware of any audio or video anaomolies due to the britleness of the tape that can cause the capture to fail.
I found myself one day spending several hours attempting to capture one tape because of the amount of anomolies found.
I hope that once all the 28 or so VHS-C tapes are captured I can have my family archives digized for my daughter and future generations.
