This year I’ve witnessed the rise of a disturbing trend in Malta of demolishing historical or natural sites for short-term political, financial or convenient wins.
We must remember that many people who travel to Malta come to see the things that are being eradicated from the landscape.
With the distress I did find a glimpse of an unexpected newspaper article that highlighted the restoration of the ‘White Tower’.
This historical, neglected ruin was featured in my 2017 Forgotten Landscapes project.
It appears that the building is undergoing restoration and will be one day in the not so distant future, appreciated for future generations.
There is hope.
All it takes is one initiative to bulldoze or preserve the past.
