The Forgotten Landscapes opening was a success!
With almost one hundred people turning up, I was humble, grateful and honored that people took the time out of their busy day to visit and explore the exhibit.
Kristina Quintano made an absolutely lovely speech about the project and wonderfully presented the book to the audience. Without her assistance and motivation this project would not have been the success it would have been.
Antoine Cassar who has done a magnificent job translating the material from English to Maltese was scheduled to read one of the poems written for the project but had an unfortunate car just outside the main gate of Valletta.
Luckily Norbert Bugeja, one of Maltese finest contemporary writers and poets took the reigns and presented an amazing reading.
Philip Vella, Mayor of Sannat, Gozo and associated with the Mgarr Ix-Xini Pumping Station also attended the event and was overjoyed at the promotion of the facility. I was particularly humbled by his love of restoration, preservation and adaptive reuse.
The book, printed in limited copies, is now officially for sale for 30 euros. Orders, including the original artwork can be made through e-mailing Kristina Quintano at kristina@quintano.no or Mark Magro at mmagro@wantedmedia.ca
All profits for this project will go towards research for dementia. It is important to note that I’ve dedicated the book to my mother Jane Magro who is unfortunately afflicted with this disease.
