A unplanned guided artistic tour into the heart of the derelict Jerma Palace hotel and artistic mind of painter Mark Mallia.
Forgotten Landscapes

Jerma Place was once a four-star seaside hotel situated in the southern Maltese village of Marsaskala.
Built in 1982 by the Libyan Jamahiriya party to improve the Maltese economy, the hotel provided employment to locals and assisted in the transformation of the community from a small fishing village into a popular tourist destination.
The hotel once housed a presidential suite for former Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi. Its derelict and abandoned state provides a powerful reminder to the rise and fall of a foreign dynasty and captures a moment in time when his influence in Malta was strong.
In 2007, the hotel was sold to developers and shortly thereafter closed. After failed attempts to develop the structure into a commercial complex, the site was quickly stripped and left to decay.

Mark Mallia is a Maltese native, self-taught in the arts and tutored by the late notable Maltese artist Espirit Barthet. He is skilled in abstract paintings and has produced notable exhibitions across America and Europe.
